Black Friday Trick: Cheap and Sales

October is when all the excitement related to the BLACK FRIDAY begins, and on that fateful Friday in November we all lose it. This year I decided to do it differently and not wait for black Friday, because I knew the queues would be unbearable; I instead started my Black Friday fashion purchases at cheap prices in September and ended it a day before the actual date. The biggest trick I employed this year was  Sales, Sales, Sales, which kept my closet happy, but my bank account the happiest.

The multi purpose bodysuit I got for R80 is an absolute win. I wore it with this grey skirt that I was stunned to buy at R20 from LEGIT around May this year, a whole 6 months before Black Friday. The bodysuit looked pretty good with this pair of shorts I got for just R60 the day before black Friday.

Bodysuit – Mr Price; Skirt – Legit; Shoes – Aldo

Dress and bag both cost me R50 and R80 respectively, resulting in an outstanding outfit that makes you look absolutely stunning for a throw away price. Looking for stuff in the sales section definitely is rewarding, buying stuff at cheap stores is also very rewarding because your closet stays happy while your pocket is the happiest.

Dress – Mr Price; Bag – Marabastad; Shoes – Aldo

This is by far my favourite 2018 combo, and not just because the outfit looks good, but mainly because it cost me just under R200; absolute proof that happiness exists in fashion when you can hack the black Friday trick. This is an attire you can comfortably wear to a party and semi-formal event.

Top & Pants & Shoes- Mr Price; Earrings – Legit; Bag- Marabastad

The black Friday tricks hacked my 2018 fashion budget and I ended up with this epic outfit that would otherwise seem expensive.  A whole outfit just worth R160. You don’t need to slay expensively if you can hack the system. This amazing blazer was bought by my sister in Kenya at Ksh300, an equivalent of R30, skirt was worth R50.

Bodysuit & skirt – Mr Price; Coat – Ngara, Kenya; Shoes – Aldo

Another hack to the fashion budgeting was this amazing dress coat that I literally got for R60. I must admit that this is the item that shocked me when I found myself in Creative Shop a day before Black Friday. I had walked into shops uncountable times hoping to get such a coat. I must admit I was ready to spend money on it, but black Friday tricks came in handy, legit gave me what I longed for at a throw away price.

Shoes – Mr Price; Coat – Creative Shop, Hatfield Plaza

This afternoon or night-out or  girls-meet outfit, from Creative Shop forms part of my 2018 Black Friday tricks. Shorts cost R50 and body suit from Mr Price cost R80. I basically, tricked my closet to have an amazing outfit that I could use for several events for just R130. Sincerely, anyone can look good and all it takes is knowing the tricks on how to slay on a budget.

Bodysuit & shorts – Mr Price;  Shoes – Aldo

I legit ensure that items in my closet range from R50- R170 without compromising on quality. My all year black Friday tricks got me this dress for just R100; a dress that would serve as an amazing smart casual, dinner or even a cocktail party dress.

The Yellow Fashion Fever

There is always a colour that fashionably sparks emotions in us. Well, my 2018 has been surrounded by the “Yellow Fashion Fever”. Several of my posts have had this yellow being featured, including my graduation outfit.

The immense love of yellow, started when I went to buy a black long skirt at my favourite shopping spot. The shop attendant looked at me and said, ”this yellow skirt (https://akuraclosetraid.com/2018/06/28/fashion-preference-long-or-short/) would look amazing on you”. There and then, my love for yellow began. I have not gone to the shop and failed to get a yellow outfit. My buddy Natasha says ‘we leaving yellow in 2018’, but I doubt if this love will come to an end.

I must say that these two jumpsuits have been the epitome of my love for the “Yellow Fashion Fever”. They both had an outstanding feel when I tried them on. It was like I had found the colour that symbolises happiness, resilience, passion, elegance and love all at once.

The fact that they were different made me overlook the question of “why am I buying the same colour of clothes?” Each jumpsuit had its own personally touch to my closet.

The short yellow jumpsuit stood out because of the belt, the one sided off-shoulder style and of course the buttons on the one arm. The fact that it would allow me to wear it with any colour of shoes was an absolute bonus.

The long jumpsuit was a complete stunner. My best friend saw it and all she thought of was, ‘birthday outfit’. Took a lot of discipline for me not to rock it to any events I had to attend before my birthday. The open back, the long strands that allows one to tie the jumpsuit in different ways, and the ‘flying’ style of the pants at the bottom were breath taking.

The best part about these outfits is that they both cost me less than R400 in total. My sister would say ” Slaying on a budget” . I would say  ” Slaying on a budget and with best emotions attached to what you wear“.

Explore Fashion Colourfully

It’s clear that Colour is of significance in the fashion industry and is now my everyday fashion language. In my 5 months of blogging, this journey has exposed the hidden love I have for colours. Colourfully exploring my fashion has been a delight.

The question remains, just how much colour is enough colour? Normally I keep to a maximum of three colours in my attires, but I believe the trend has been officially changed.

Fashion demands a tactful approach to clothes with colour. The most important thing is to ensure that the coordination in your style is on 100%.

Blue-Pink

By now it is more than evident I am the biggest fan of blue. This blue-pink coat is a gem simply because you can wear it with any attire and however you wish. A skirt, a short dress, a pair of shorts and pants would all look stunning with this coat. Well, being that summer is here; why not rock it with a pair of shorts and some colourful heels in your closet.

The make-up

My make-up artist always says that I’m risk-evasive when it comes to make-up choices. The amount of “fights” that take place during my make-up session with her are immense. She likes to explore with colours, and after this shoot, I am giving her full power to explore on my face colourfully. The green-blue make up worked with my skin and these attires that I’m now letting go of my fear of colourful make up.

Sparkle on the Black

Black would be dull without a sparkling colour to make a black outfit stand out. What best to explore with than red? The red loop hearings bring out an outstanding style to this simple outfit. The red African-print bag is a colourful addition that ensures the green African-print duke breaks the red monotony in an amazing style.

Bag – Kigali, Rwanda

Being Extra on Colour

I must admit that I was doubtful of this outfit when I wore it. I thought to myself; wow this is a lot of colour. However, to my surprise the outfit came across as my favourite. The duke, the purse, the earrings and the shoes all speak differently to this sassy coat, while ensuring an existing unison in this colourful language.

I hope this post just answers the question of just how much colour is too much colour. Don’t be afraid to explore your colourful language in fashion.

My Type of Flawless

Category : Beauty , Fashion

Ladies we all know that the most important part of our fashion is our FACE. It is the first thing we check when we look in the mirror after dressing up and immediately before we step out of the house. The most important self-love and care we can show ourselves is ensuring our faces look as flawless and stunning as possible.

I have always battled with pimples that leave spots on my face. This happens just before my menstrual periods, I call it ‘the red sign’. Early in July I had the worst break out ever, I was uncomfortable in my skin and had to put on make-up to hide the blemishes. I had my hair all up in my face just to cover my cheeks which were the most affected.

I have tried using home-made products, and these seem to work for a while then I am back to the struggle; sometimes the situation gets worse. I started using Pond’s New Flawless Radiance Derma + just three weeks ago and the change has been impressively dramatic.

My Routine

Morning & Evening Treat

Micellar water: I use Dove cotton pads as they are soft on my skin. This ensures that sweat from the previous night is completely removed from my face. In the evening, whether I had make up or not, I use this product to remove the accumulated dirt on my face. I then wash my face with Protex Deep Clean soap, which I have realized works for me.

Perfecting Serum: I add just a bit of this product onto my face. Day/Night Cream: Finally, I use either the day or night cream depending on the time of the day.

Benefits

Micellar water: Cleanses the skin and removes make-up and is suitable for face, eyes and lips. This product has made it is so easy for me to remove my lipstick when I get home.

Perfecting Serum: Targets multiple skin damage. I can attest to this as I have seen positive results on my face in just 3 weeks.

Day Cream: I am currently using the Mattifying Day Cream SPF 15 which is good for normal to oily skin.  My face remains normal all day long despite the fact that I have an oily face, especially my nose area.

Night Cream: I have not looked forward to the night as I have since I started using this product. My skin feels absolutely gentle and nourished after using this product. It has really proven to have the deep skin overnight repair effect on my face.

I strongly believe in sharing products that work for me, not just for the sake of marketing but because I believe in it. This is why I have shared my experience with you in these make-up free pictures. (Check out my progress in the next post).

I advise you track your progress should you wish to use these products. The price is affordable and they last long. For more reviews on this product check: http://www.beautybulletin.com/face-and-body/eye-creamsserums/pond-s-flawless-radiance-derma-perfecting-serum

COLOURFUL AFRICAN CLOSET

Category : Fashion

African prints are automatically part of the colourful closet. The question then is, just how much of Colourful African Closet do you own? How many bright printed outfits contribute to the collection of your Colourful African Closet?🌼🏵🌸

Bright green in the closet just screams beauty. This is the first bright green cloth I own. The colour makes my dark complexion golden. The purple & black floral touches make the top so royal & toned down. The combination simply ensures it could be worn with any colour of pants.  🌻💥🌻

Pants- Marabastad; Top –  https://www.instagram.com/mzzhaja/ ; Shoes – Rage ; Ring – H&M.

Maroon, grey and touches of blue definitely makes a colourful African print. This crop top works so stunningly with high waist jeans in any colour. The maroon shoes ensured a stunning outfit: always make sure that your outfit is perfectly coordinated. 🌸🌼🌸

Blue is simply a beautiful colour, whether in African print or any other material. This blue, with orange touches, dress combined with red shoes made it an absolute rating of 10. The most interesting part about blue is that any colour of shoes works with it: It’s simply one of those colours in the closet that makes dressing very easy. 🏵🌻🏵

I am not such a lover of long dresses, however, a simple outstanding touch to a long dress makes my whole attitude change. This long, body hogging & colourful African dress is a perfect example of my kind of long dresses. The yellow, purple, green and black touches make the dress outstanding. The best attribute of the dress is that it shows a person’s physique in an amazing way. 🌼🏵🌼

A colourful African Closet can’t be complete without an African pair of trousers. The colour coordination on this fabric makes the pants’ simple design look intricately stunning. The green, orange and black combination of colours just takes the pants from a 8 to a 10. It felt so good heating people on campus expressing their love for these pants. The best part is that I can wear them to a club & date too. 🌸💮🌼

THE COLOURFUL CLOSET

Category : Fashion

How much of a colourful closet do you own? 🏵🌻🏵 Are you a lover of a colourful closet? 🏵🌻🏵. I’ve asked myself these questions for the longest time, and finally decided to take chance on this colourful closet. I must admit, I love the experience of trying out the different colours in my closet. Purchasing colourful items is now an interesting part of my shopping.

Pink🌸 has never been a part of my favourite colours, maybe because I have an unconscious liking for black. However, this has to be the best part of my journey so far. This pink red-floral shirt blends in with any colour of pants/skirt/shorts you wish to wear. Match it up with popping eye make up and toned down lipstick or lip gloss. The outfit works well either as a chill-out/date-night/clubbing outfit depending on the shoes you wear it with. The best part is that I got it on sale at Mr.Price. That’s what I call a win, win, win game 🌻🌼.

I call it baby pink, but others would say it is beige, nonetheless the colourful nature of this dress makes my skin colour pop, which is one of the best ways to dress. The best part of this dress is its silky nature and that it can be worn with or without folding the sleeves. What colour of shoes? Certainly, red shoes blends perfectly with this silky pink/beige short dress. The shoes exaggerate the beauty of ones legs 🌻🌼.

Dress (gift)- Mud Jeans, Zambia ; Bracelets (gifts)- Chawama, Zambia ; Shoes – Mr.Price ; Ring – H&M.

They say it takes a lot to have an eye for good stuff, but I say your heart leads you to stunning clothes. This colourful shirt-dress made my heart melt as soon as I saw it because I knew that wearing it would be so easy. It stunningly coordinates with any purse/shoes/ jewellery you wish to wear it with. I can also rock it to campus and when going out depending on how I wear it. It gives a classy & sassy look at the same time.🌻🌸

White clothes are very attractive when colourful. This white jumpsuit, with green and blue touches is a perfect example of a stunning white outfit. The best part about it, is that you can play around with the straps to wear it just as you feel best and with any colour of shoes & purse. It is absolutely perfect for a morning/lunch date in summer 🌻🌼.

SIMILAR or SAME ATTIRE

Category : Fashion

As ladies, we are normally concerned about the issue of having the same attire as a friend or anyone in the same event as us. Friend, what are you wearing to the party? I tend to panic when the answer she gives implies that we will be wearing the same clothes. Nattie, a friend and blog follower, said that wearing planned attires should never be the case.

I recommend that you find a SIMILAR dress not the SAME dress. The  other solution would be to choose something different. Alternatively, accessorize similarly so you have the same dress but a totally different look.

The Stripped outfit

I had never thought of wearing a similar attire with my best friend, but upon her birthday request I decided to do this. Despite wearing the same dress, we accessorized differently: wore different colour of shoes and dress (black and blue). Although the concept is the same, one can spot a difference.

You can both wear long chains, silver and gold chains with different details in order to create a difference. The clutches you carry can be different types and colours. If you both love rings and earrings then make them stand out but in a different way.

The trick is to match up your attires in the best way you can so that the difference is evident. Let people pay attention to the difference rather than the similar aspects of your attires.

Dress- Marabastad; Shoes – Legit; Earrings – Lovisa; Rings and Chain – H&M; Clutch bag – Marabastad

Dress- Marabastad; Shoes – Dar-es-Salaam,Tanzania; Earrings & chain – Legit; Ring – H&M; Clutch bag – Pretoria Central.

The African pants

Having the same interest in clothes with a friend can be the best thing. When you both love an African touch to your outfits, getting ideas for designs seems easier. You can also ‘steal’ each others clothes.

Top- Marabastad; Shoes – Mr Price; Pants – Dar-es-Salaam,Tanzania; Earrings – Accra,Ghana; Ring & Chain – H&M.

Top & Shoes – Mr Price; Pants – Dar-es-Salaam,Tanzania; Ring – H&M.

Sometimes the need to add an extra style to our outfits arises. Apart from the design of the pants, you can combine two different prints for that extra style. The material that you pick must have a print coordination that stands out. The prints must have colour coordination.

Despite this dilemma of similar or same attires, just remember:
